With travel and trial sized products including: shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, body wash, among others only costing around $1 you can find yourself getting necessities for dirt cheap or even free. However, sometimes included in the fine print is the sentence ‘excludes trial and travel size.’

Even when a coupon doesn’t have the clause that excludes you from purchasing trial or travel sized products you shouldn’t always jump the gun and buy the smaller size. Many people have asked “When should I use a coupon to purchase a travel or trial sized product or the full sized product?” You should try to wait on using your coupon until the coupon is nearing its’ expiration date. This is so you can see if you are able to get the full size for as low as possible. Sometimes it may cost you a little more in total price; nevertheless you will find you can save more money per ounce.

Make sure to always use your coupon on the full size product when it is one of your absolute favorite products, it’s on sale for a rock bottom price and obviously when the fine print excludes the travel and trial size product. Get a Rain Check Up. If the store is out of the on sale item you’d like simply request a rain check. Avoid the let down of not being able to get what you want and speak with the store’s manager for a rain check. Combine your rain check with other matching coupons to save even more money!

Save, on the Double! With most stores running their sales from Wednesday to Wednesday look out for stores such as Elm City Market who offer Double Ad Days. Double Ad Days means that on Wednesdays or whatever day your favorite store decides to start and end their sales you can get both weeks sales at the same time! Not only can you save more money this way you can also save more time by only shopping every two weeks instead of every week.

Watch the Previews. Checking the sneak previews for the following weeks sales can help you determine when the best time for you to shop is and when you can save the most money. You can find the previews either in store, through mailings or on the store’s website.
